ChartsLive FAQ

This page lists the most frequently asked questions regarding ChartsLive. If you have a question, please check here first before sending us an email.

Can I delete the portfolios that came with ChartsLive?
Absolutely. Delete or create any portfolio you like. Deleting unwanted large portfolios will actually improve the app launch time.
What is a "Chart Design"? Why would I care?
A chart design is basically a set of chart options you save away and apply to any symbol you like. Looking at charts of different ranges and with different indicators and overlays is central to good technical analysis for a given symbol.
How do I delete symbols from a portfolio?
Just tap "Edit" at the top of the screen and then tap the small icon to the left of the symbol you wish to delete.
Why can't I set a timer larger than 60 sec? Won't this drain my battery quickly?
Firstly, realize that we do not request quotes when the application is not running (the iPhone does not allow apps to run in the background) or if the screensave is enabled. We only get quotes while the screen is on. We expect that most people will only view each screen for a few minutes before moving on, so high timer values are not useful. Also, if you have the screen on for the time it would take a 15 minute timer to fire, then you are using far more battery power from the screen than any request for new quotes.
Can I change the chart parameter values ... like MA intervals?
At this time we do not control which parameters are shown. ChartsLive gives you fast and easy access to Yahoo Finance charts and so Yahoo really selects the parameters for say RSI.
Are the charts real time? Do you offer a real time intraday chart?
ChartsLive data is delayed. The shortest chart span is 1 Day and that is also a delayed chart.
